Hong Kong Convention And Exhibition Centre
Hong Kong Convention And Exhibition Centre
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), opened in November 1988, has since propelled the trade exhibition industry in Hong Kong to new heights, establishing it as a key hub for trade activities in Asia and a significant venue for international conferences. The construction cost of HKCEC when it first opened was HKD 1.6 billion (USD 207 million), excluding land costs. The first expansion project completed in 1997 cost HKD 4.8 billion (USD 620 million), including reclamation costs. The second expansion, completed in 2009, cost HKD 1.4 billion (USD 180 million).
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is a representative of the latest architectural ensemble in Hong Kong, with its new wing constructed through land reclamation, featuring a grand auditorium and several large exhibition halls spread across three levels. It is one of the world's largest exhibition venues, and its unique bird-like design adds vibrancy to the beautiful Victoria Harbour. During the handover of Hong Kong in 1997, a grand ceremony was held at the HKCEC, making it the focal point of international attention during that historic moment. The二期会展面向海侧是金紫荆广场, 放置着象征香港回归的金紫荆雕像, 也是香港每天举行升旗仪式的地方.
